$4 billion price tag for midterm elections

http://onpolitics.usatoday.com/2014/10/22/analysis-midterm-election-will-cost-nearly-4-billion/
Midterm elections this year are going to cost about $4 billion dollars, making this year the most expensive midterm ever. This expensive election means more annoying political TV ads, radio ads, phone calls, and more junk mail for everybody. The non-partisan center for Responsive Politics says that political groups are spending about $19.4 million dollars a day.

I think that $4 billion is a ridiculous amount of money used for campaigning. Political candidates should actually use that money to help people instead of just furthering their own interests. They should really make a law limiting the amount of money spent on campaigning.

  1. I can't believe that we are spending that much money on political campaigns. There should be a limit on how much money candidates can waste, so that the left over money can be put toward something useful.

  2. If they want to help get rid of the national debt, then they shouldn't be spending that much on campaigning and put to something that would help bring money to country.

  3. Where are the candidates getting all this money? Is it all from donations or are they using our tax dollars to fund this? Either way, it's ridiculous. Whatever happened to the government's role as servant to the people? The candidates should not be funneling this much money into their own quest for power. This is one of the reasons people these days are so fed up with the government. One wonders how much they really care about us beyond a pencil mark on a ballot.

  4. Sadly this doesn't surprise me. Most of that money is probably from private donations And I don't think there are regulatuons on those. Its unfortunate but its a part of campaigns in this day and age.
