ATF Attempting to Ban Common AR-15 (M-16) Ammo

Why am I blue?

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) wants to ban “5.56mm constituent projectiles of SS109 and M855 cartridges." This type of ammunition is commonly used by hunters and target shooters. The ATF says that they want to ban this type of ammo because it has armor-piercing capabilities.

I do not think that the ATF has the right to ban this ammunition. One of the main reasons we have the 2nd amendment is to prevent government tyranny of the people. How are the people suppose to defend themselves when you take away the ammo necessary for the defense of our rights?

  1. I don't think this will pass because as you said it is making it difficult for people to defend themselves if they don't have the ammo to do it. If you look at all the guns that need that ammuntion to fire, then you will probably take away nearly a quarter to half of the guns in the country.

  2. If it truly takes away nearly half the guns in the nation, then it definitely shouldn't pass. I don't think its a 'defend themselves' type of thing. As you said most of these people are either target shooters or hunters. These aren't the guns they'll be using if someone breaks into their house or something.

  3. I think this is ridiculous. As part of our second amendment, I think ammunition applies to the right to bear arms. What good is a weapon without ammunition? For those who still think that guns are a danger to society, GUNS DONT KILL PEOPLE.

  4. The ATF does not have the right to withhold armor-piercing ammunition from the people for that would withhold the peoples right to ammunition that would defend against a government militia. Many Americans fear a tyrant, but they shouldn't fear if they know they can stand up against a tyrant. There's all these checks that the government has on itself, but the ultimate check is the people. And if there is such a tyrant taking hold of the American government, the people need the right to check him/her.
